  1. I browned half a pack of bacon(saving the fat) sauted half an onion (small dice) about 10 button mushrooms(sliced thin) in the bacon fat till tender. I diced 3 pieces of fresh white and added that at the end for 2-3 min. Came out wonderful.

  2. He's being nice to you guys that are thinking it is okay to use skewere. Trust me it's much better to tie it off. Easier to brown and makes for a better looking finished product. Get the butcher string and practice it
