  1. In French cuisine, "julienne" is a way of cutting the vegetables in long strips or sticks. It does not refer to any type of food. It is a French-style recipe and if you were to replace the dough cups with small cups made out of pâte brisée and bake it just like you did, it can certainly be an appetizer (amuse-bouche or amuse-gueule). The same mixture can be used to stuff crêpes, galettes or to make chaussons.
Serving it in small pots is an interesting way to present the dish and it could be an entrée if accompanied by a salad and bread, and it would not be unusual to bake this in ramekins with an egg on top to make an oeuf en cocotte.
But just like I said earlier, it's not something that's a part of traditional cuisine. It's just a recipe that looks french because mushrooms are very often sautéed in butter with shallots and then simmered in cream.

  4. I am French and I have never heard of this! haha I thought that the dish was with a lot of vegetables cut in julienne (thin slices) but I am not sure why it is called julienne though as it is mainly with mushrooms haha

  5. One of my friend from Ukraine cooked this dish once when I visited her. She didn't put any onion coz she doesn't like onion. And she didn't bake it in the end. My husband loved it so much he asked me to make it the very next day!!!
