  2. thanks for the video. very helpful. I'm making ground venison jerky with a gun that has a round index finger size hole. is it different determining when it is finished with the slim jim type jerky? any extra info you could give about checking the jerky for being done. thanks again

  3. I made my own ground beef jerky and it came out very dry after dehydrating it for six hours. I had ground my own top round meat. What percentage of lean beef did you use for your jerky in this video and how long did you do you hydrate your jerky?

  4. mine actually bend and breaks and is a tad bit red inside..is this a concern? I read that cooking in oven at 275 for 15 minutes after drying can kill off any additonal bacteria. I dryed it for 6 hours at max temp setting of 145 degrees

  5. That looks fabulous and I am constantly looking for new things to try in my dehydrator. Going to give this one a try soon, have to get the gun first – I think the rolling it out would be to difficult to do. Thank you so much for sharing your time and recipe.

  10. Hi!
I've read this: " The USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline's recommendations for making homemade jerky is to Steam or roast meat to 160 °F as measured with a food thermometer BEFORE dehydrating it ".
Is this really necessary?? I don't want to add preservatives to mine, so you think "we" can skip this?? What are your thoughts? CARoppel@gmail.com

  11. Great Job ! I have a Kitchenaid Mixer, so I plan on cheating as well.  One item I am going to try to your recipe is removing the Onion and Garlic Powder, and substituting Tiger Seasoning. It is also a powder and probably has those in it. I love this product. Thanks again !
