  1. does pearl river bridge have no-msg and organic soy sauce? all pearl river bridge's soy sauces have msg. i was told that they have the best tasting soy sauce. however, 97% of soy in the US is GMO. im trying to avoid it as much as i can.

  2. It is a great idea to replace frying with steaming. Soaking it with some salt to prevent color from changing is another good idea. Thanks a lot.

  3. Wow, that looks great..have to try it.
When you not showing us how to cook, you should take up a side job as a meditation instructor.
You have a very calming effect.. 🙂

  5. an excellent recipe easy to follow and i can taste the bean paste taste, i also have chilli flake infused into this dish as well not much just a touch of the chilli flakes. if i have insulted your recipe please accept my apologies. keep up the cooking and new recipes.

  6. Thanks So much for sharing the recipe. I always love to buy the Chinese eggplant from the restaurant, but now I can make it home. But quick question, why do you use corn starch?

  7. I just made an eggplant dish with black bean/garlic sauce, but it turned out not so good for some reason. I am not sure if it was the eggplant, or maybe I did not cook the eggplant well enough. I used the more American large, more round eggplant.

  8. I miss this dish so much–my favorite–after living in Chongqing 4 years. I was always worried about the oil, though. Thanks for a healthier version. I will be making this ASAP!!!
